Elsa has strengthened into the first hurricane of the Atlantic season and it's battering the eastern Caribbean.

Hurricane Elsa is racing toward Haiti and the Dominican Republic, where it threatens to unleash flooding and landslides before taking aim at Cuba and Florida.

Tropical Storm Elsa is officially the earliest E-name storm on record, breaking the record set just last year by Edouard.
