Two brief tornadoes touched down in Indiana during the June 18 storm, the National Weather Service has concluded — causing minor damage.

The NWS issued a tornado watch effective from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. for scores of Indiana cities, including Greater Lafayette, Indianapolis and Muncie.

The National Weather Service says two tornadoes caused some building damage near Lafayette as a wave of storms with strong winds and heavy rain moved across much of Indiana.

This marked the beginning of Indiana’s largest tornado outbreak in history. Another 20 tornadoes spun up across 45 other counties in the state between 2 and 8 p.m. that day.
