Western Mass News went out to Holyoke to see some of the damage of the intense storm that tore throughout the bay state Saturday.

Officials from FEMA, along with state, county, and city crews, including the mayor, went to door-to-door as down this block as disaster assessment teams began the process of reviewing damage from storms in mid-August to eventually determine if homeowners can get federal disaster recovery assistance.

Local cities and towns are undergoing extensive cleanup efforts after a weekend storm uprooted trees and left significant debris.

After the intense hail storm Wednesday night, people spent the day looking over the damage done to their homes. But, how do you prove damage to insurance, and how do you know which contractors are reliable?
