WAR DEPARTMENT: President Donald Trump signed an executive order rebranding the Department of Defense as the Department of War. The change makes the latter name the department’s secondary title.

The president can’t formally change the name without legislation. In the meantime, Trump will authorize the Pentagon to use “secondary titles."

The White House will install the Department of War as a “secondary name” to get around Trump’s inability to actually rename the agency.
