Why Does the Catholic Church Use a Crucifix? | Synonym

A crucifix is usually associated with Catholicism and has a three-dimensional image of Christ known as the corpus. Most Protestants use a cross without a Christ image. Though cross-like symbols existed before Christianity, for nearly 2,000 years the cross has been a symbol of the Christian church. I use it during exorcisms because it is a visible expression of my invisible faith, my trust in Christ’s victory over the devil which demons are forced to face. | Bob Larson
