GOES East (GOES-16) Geostationary Lightning Mapper, or GLM, captures a long line of lightning as severe storms march across Midwest and Southern U.S. on March 5. As the first of its kind in geostationary orbit, the GLM instrument aboard GOES-16 provides continuous monitoring of lightning activity in the Western Hemisphere.
