The first orca sighting of the season just popped up on our Chiswell Island research cameras, and we have to say, it was pretty epic! This group of orcas circled the island for nearly an hour. Predation typically occurs beneath the water surface and is only rarely observed by our researchers. Based on the orcas' surface behavior, our researchers believe that a sea lion was likely taken during this event. These powerful predators cruise by the rookery every year, and it’s always a thrill to catch
